About the Pictures I Take


Most of my photographs are taken within walking distance of my home in Breakish on the Isle of Skye. Some are taken on day excursions to nearby places, and on holidays to other parts of the Highlands.


Only minimal digital processing is used. Minor adjustments of colour balance, contrast, brightness, sharpness, etc., are often deployed, but these are only to ensure that the pictures are as close as possible to what the eye saw.


The photographs are intended to convey a sense of something hard to describe in words, sometimes a feeling, a sense, but often rather elusive. The subjects therefore can be a rock in a pool of water by the road, a misty mountain, a plant in the garden, as the mood directs me.
